Dr. Nadia Vassallo
Deputy Principal Curriculum and Student Affairs

Dr Nadia Maria Vassallo is the Deputy Principal – Curriculum and Student Affairs. She graduated as a teacher from the University of Malta in 2001 and for 14 years taught across several levels from Primary to Secondary and Post Secondary Education. Nadia joined MCAST in 2010 and since then she has occupied various roles. Dr Vassallo obtained a Master’s in the area of literacy, with a focus on Family Literacy with the University of Sheffield. This was followed by Post Graduate Studies in Literacy and Dyslexia Specialist Intervention with the University of York and the British Dyslexia Association, and later a Doctorate in Literacy and Language in Education in 2014, from the University of Sheffield. Her areas of studies have focused on literacy and policy in education, in particular within a vocational institution. In 2014, Nadia was appointed Deputy Director for the Learning Support Unit and Key Skills and from 2015 she was Director of Curriculum managing the Curriculum Department which includes the Curriculum Office, the Learning Support Unit, the Inclusive Education Unit and the Key Skills Department. Together with her team, Nadia has worked successfully on a number of Erasmus+ projects in collaboration with international partners. In 2019, Nadia was appointed Deputy Principal – Curriculum and Student Affairs with a wider remit that includes the Curriculum Department; the Quality Assurance Department; the Apprenticeship and Work Based Learning; the Student Careers, Outreach and Intake; Wellbeing Support Services; and the Centre for Professional Development.

Dr Rose Falzon
Director – Student Support Services | 学生支持服务主任

Dr Rose Falzon graduated with B.Ed. (Hons) (University of Malta) and consequently completed a Clinical and Pastoral Counselling Diploma (Glasgow Counselling Institute), an MSc in Counselling (University of Bristol), MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy (GPTIM-EAPTI) and a Doctor of Education (University of Bristol). Dr Falzon’s professional trajectory started with teaching in a secondary school and she subsequently worked in counselling and psychotherapy, as a practitioner supervisor conducting individual and group supervision at the Education Directorate for Student Services, for diverse agency practitioners and for practitioner trainees. Dr Falzon delivered training and seminars, and continuous professional development lectures in colleges, schools and other entities. At the University of Malta, Dr Falzon formed part of dissertation boards at first Degree and Master’s levels, and delivered lectures, seminars and tutorials to psychology, communications, medical and youth ministry students. At MCAST Dr Falzon was involved in the course development of the Inclusive Education National Higher Diploma and was a Senior Lecturer both in Personal Development and Inclusive Education. Currently Dr Falzon is the Director for Student Support Services. Dr Falzon presented several workshops concerning therapy and supervision in conferences both locally and abroad, and apart from her thesis, published articles in the MCAST Journal of Applied Research & Practice (2017), European Association for Counselling Online Publications (2014), and in the European Journal for Qualitative Research in Psychotherapy (2014).

Mr. Kenny Muscat
Director of Curriculum | 课程主任

Mr Kenny Muscat graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and a Master of Science in Integrated Product Development from the University of Malta. He also graduated with a Postgraduate Certificate in Vocational Education and Training from MCAST and has recently concluded a dissertation as part of a Master of Business Administration with Henley Business School, University of Reading, United Kingdom.
After graduating from the University of Malta, Kenny joined ST Microelectronics as a process engineer where he was responsible for several back-end finishing processes related to the manufacturing of BGA Integrated Circuits. In 2009 he joined MCAST as a lecturer where he taught mathematics, product development and engineering design. Kenny worked as an Institute Coordinator, Deputy Director and Acting Director at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
In 2017 he joined the Learning Support Unit within the Curriculum Department where, as Deputy Director, he worked on specialist programmes, language courses, assistive technology, key skills units, entrepreneurship, and development of curriculum, MCAST partner schools and several Erasmus+ projects. In March 2019 Kenny was appointed Director of Curriculum.  Over the past five years, Kenny was involved in the teacher training programmes and CPD of MCAST staff.
Kenny’s main interests include delivery and assessment in Vocational Education and Training, transversal skills, flexible learning, inclusion and continuous professional development of educators.

Mr John Bartolo
Director – Student Careers, Outreach and Intake | 董事 - 学生职业,外展和入学

Mr John Bartolo started his teaching career in 1984 and taught the Maltese language, religious knowledge and life skills at various state schools. In 2001 he occupied the role of Career Guidance and Counsellor at the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology, MCAST. He was appointed MCAST Director of Student Support Services where he introduced a variety of new services for MCAST students.  He was also a project leader for the ESF 3.102 Inclusion for Employment where the curricula of levels 1, 2 and 3 were written and resources procured for the delivery of such curricula. Presently he is Director of Student Outreach Services and is reading for his Doctorate in Education with specific interest on the inclusion of refugees and asylum seekers in vocational educational programmes.

Mr Martin Borg
Director – Internships and Work Based Learning Department


Mr Martin Borg is currently occupying the position of Director for Work-Based Learning. In addition, he is also the project leader of an ESF project seeking to achieve vocational excellence through enhanced work based learning. Martin has occupied several roles in education and training including Chief Executive Officer at the National Commission for Further and Higher Education, Director of Studies at the Institute of Tourism Studies, Director for Curriculum at MCAST, and Deputy Director at the Institute of Building and Construction Engineering. He has been lecturing since 2001 in several fields including economics of education, work-based learning, curriculum development and management, mathematics and engineering. Martin is also currently reading for a professional doctorate in business and management.

Ign Pierre Dalmas
Director – Quality Assurance | 董事 - 质量保证


Ing Pierre Dalmas is Director of Quality Assurance at the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology. His main responsibility is primarily to facilitate the enhancement of the student support and administrative processes and the compliance of the Quality Management System to the National and European guidelines and standards. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Grenoble Graduate School of Business) and an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering (University of Malta). His previous management positions within the various industry sectors have helped Pierre in relating the needs of the industry with the expected outcomes of vocational and professional education and training. Pierre is also a certified trainer and has delivered training in industry, academic and vocational institutions. He is also a peer reviewer on external quality audit panels of local training providers on behalf of the Malta National Commission for Further and Higher Education. Outside work, his interests are travelling with family, films and reading.

Ms Marthese Vassallo
Senior Counsellor | 高级顾问


Marthese Vassallo is a warranted counsellor with over 20 years of experience working with adults and adolescents. She has been working at MCAST as a counsellor for the past 12 years, nine of these as a senior counsellor. Throughout these years she has significantly contributed towards the development of the Student Support Services as a psychosocial service to students and staff. For another 12 years, Marthese maintained a weekly voluntary commitment counselling couples at Cana Movement. She has a background in education and worked as a teacher and learning support assistant at San Andrea School for 10 years, where she was also involved in the management of the pastoral care of students. Amongst other duties, she was responsible for the discipline of students, the organisation and running of a number of weekend camps and she delivered ‘Parenting Skills Programmes’.  For a number of years, Marthese, together with a team of other facilitators, ran weekend seminars with young people for the prevention of substance misuse with Agenzija Sedqa. Before moving to the world of education, Marthese had extensive work experience in other fields, namely as a notarial secretary for 10 years, office administrator with an interior design company for 11 years and sales within the tourist industry. Marthese Vassallo’s area of special interest in working with victims of sexual abuse, an area she thoroughly researched throughout her studies. She has a vast experience on a range of issues including but not limited to self-esteem, understanding oneself better, relationship problems, depression, abuse, suicide ideation and self-harm. Ms Vassallo graduated with an MA Education (Pastoral Care) with Distinction, from Loughborough University in 2002, a P.G. Adv. Dip. Humanistic Integrative Counselling from CPPD Counselling School in London in 2010, and an M.Sc. Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy with Distinction from the University of Derby in 2012.
